Euchre

Euchre

Euchre is a classic card game with a disputed history. It may be descendant of the Spanish game Triumph, the German game Jucker, the French game Triomphe, or the game Ecarte that was popularized by the Pennsylvania Dutch. Euchre was very popular in Europe during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and found its way to the United States in the early nineteenth century. Euchre is a favorite in the U.S. Navy. Euchre is the game that introduced the Joker to the world of card play. Euchre was the game of choice until Bridge appeared on the scene and gained more popularity. Like Bridge and Pinochle, Euchre is intensely strategic, but much faster and easier to learn. Euchre cards are regular size playing cards (larger than bridge size cards).
